A very warm welcome to our Gerontological Psychiatric Care Center Schmiedeberg!

Our gerontological psychiatric care center is also located on the premises of our senior center in Schmiedeberg. The market place and the community park of the city Schmiedeberg are in close range to the city center and can therefore be reached within a short time. Even though the nursing home has excellent connections to public transport and is located in the city center, it is still located in a calm environment and makes a peaceful and comfortable life possible. Special construction measures in and around the house provide a safe living environment, so that a possible tendencies of residents suffering from dementia or from psychiatric illnesses to run away can be prevented.

A safe haven for people suffering from dementia or from psychiatric illnesses

Our nursing home offers psychiatric changed and people in need of care a safe home on three spacious and lovingly arranged floors. The care facility concentrates on the special needs of care of residents suffering from dementia or from psychiatric illnesses: starting with the spatial design of the nursing home and color scheme serving as an orientation guide, to the furnished rooms of the residents. It is our aim to provide a safe living environment to our residents with their individual needs and life situation. That is why our nursing home has two restricted and self-constricted areas with 12 places each. All homely equipped single bedrooms have a bathroom. Small meals as well as dinner can be prepared in the eat-in kitchens which are accessible for everyone.

Strength is born out of calmness

The outdoor area, which was designed with a good eye for detail, offers all residents a safe opportunity to go for walks in the green area and to enjoy some fresh air. The residents can also actively participate in garden work, like for example taking care of the raised beds or just using one of the resting places. We also organize the daily lives of our residents according to the principle of „feeling safe“. That way the residents are integrated in the daily household tasks in small groups, under the supervision of gerontological psychiatric trained staff. The bright common rooms are situated in a way that on the one hand the participation in the social life of the house is possible but on the other hand personal retreat is still made possible if needed.

Being in good hands in a community

We are working according to the house community principle. This includes that   nursing staff is present all day long in order to look after individual residents and to serve as a contact person on-site. The day-to-day life is organized together in beautiful group rooms. Our diverse care offer ranges from musical therapy and biographical work to cinema afternoons and memory training. Spacious specially equipped rooms are available for individual activities. One important principle of our care work is the co-operation and communication with the caregivers of our residents.
